CASE STUDY

Issues Management case Study

INDUSTRY: State Government

CAPABILITIES: Research, Investigation, Interviews

OUTCOME: Thorough Application Screening Process

Overview

FBIS Issues Management was engaged to investigate and interview those seeking a licence to own and/or operate gaming machines and gaming venues. Since 1996, FBIS has investigated and interviewed over 100 prospective licensees and their associates to determine and verify the following:

  • Personal history, friendships and associations.
  • Education, commercial experience and business acumen.
  • Professional associations and business interests.
  • Assets and financial position.
  • Character, reputation, links to organised criminal enterprises and/or persons of questionable integrity.

In several cases, the findings of FBIS have been used to justify the State Government’s decision to reject licence applications and mandate the removal of executives deemed unsuitable to direct or influence the operations of a company involved in gaming.
